Lauren Burch and The Dark Side of Fashion Try on Hauls
Lauren Burch is a famous Canadian and a well-known twin
Lauren Burch has an outstanding, unique, and authentic sense of fashion and style. Like many influencers like hers, she has fans who look up to her to catch up with some of the trendy fashions and identify with her style. As a content creator and influencer of that magnitude, she has been relentless in working with fashion brands to promote various clothing and accessories through doing fashion try-on haul videos. This has worked reasonably as while on one side she monetizes doing what she likes, she, manages to keep her authenticity to her fans without seeming like she is trying so hard to advertise whatever brand she could be working with. It is a win-win for everyone involved, be it the brand, herself as the influencer, and the audience.
However, even though fashion try-on hauls have been so popular in recent times, there are the dark side that needs to be checked to ensure that all the parties involved stand to benefit.

The main undesired outcome that comes from these try-on fashion hauls is the perpetuation of unrealistic beauty and lifestyle standards. I like to think of this as both the influencer and the audience being the victims. Take for instance Lauren is naturally blessed with good looks and curves, even so, she is under pressure by either the brands she is endorsing or the general public perception of what an influencer should look like. To conform to this, she has to put on make-up, only wear clothes and accessories from particular brands, and maintain some levels of self-image. While at it, the fans who adore and look up to her acquire second-hand pressure. They get the feeling of inadequacy especially if their bodies are not as good-looking as Lauren’s. Additionally, the brand that Lauren could be endorsing tends to be from more reputable and expensive brands, something that fans could find challenging to keep up with.
Another issue still drawing on the brand endorsement aspect of try-on hauls. While it is a great improvement that most brands are letting their influencers retain their authority and flexibility around how they make and share their content, there is still pressure on what they should look like.
For instance, it would be impractical for Lauren to endorse a product from a given brand while looking like most of us do in our natural state. This presses the pressure on them to wear makeup, and follow strict scripts around how the videos should be made and look. In so doing they lose the self-authenticity which is the very reason fans try to be loyal to them. Attaining the balance between adhering to the brand's needs and remaining authentic in the eyes of the fans is a highly daunting task.
Nonetheless, an all-rounded understanding should be there between those involved. Influencers should be let be themselves while fans should be put in a position of accepting whom they are not get lost in trying to emulate what their idol look like or do.
